The Work of Christmas

Merry Christmas, Friends!

I leave you with the words of Howard Thurman:

When the song of the angels is stilled,

When the star in the sky is gone,

When the kings and princes are home,

When the shepherds are back with their flock,

The work of Christmas begins:

To find the lost,

To heal the broken,

To feed the hungry,

To release the prisoner,

To rebuild the nations,

To bring peace among others,

To make music in the heart.

  2. The spirit of Christmas isn't about fat guys in red suits and how many presents we get. That's for damn sure.

A blessed Christmas for you and your's, John. And to all who read this blog, a holiday season full of the love of Jesus.

Because if it ain't love, it ain't Jesus.

  3. Merry Christmas to you John; thank you for coming to East Tennessee and doing the rev thing; and for doing this blog thing. Our church is an oasis in the desert of the bible-belt.

Merry Christmas to all the other blog regulars too; tn420, Mystical Seeker, Flycandler, Snad and everyone else!

  5. Amen! When I was feeling despair this morning, I thought about all the poor children who are homeless, and was brought to contrition. How many of us remember them when we are all warm and comfortable in our homes, and feeling loved and surrounded by our friends? How can we feel joy when we know there are those out there who are suffering, who are lonely? Let us never turn away someone in need, no matter how we feel about them. That is how we show forth Christ's love in the world.
